A historical Twitter drama

Network ‘43 is a 3-week long Twitter drama (in collaboration with Getty Images) that imagines four Londoners ‘tweeting’ through the Blackout.

Created for Remembrance Day 11.11.11, it’s still a personal favourite as it introduced a unique form of storytelling on social media.

The Arab Spring had just happened. Thanks to Twitter, for the first time we could see war unfold through people’s eyes. This inspired me to imagine the same for WWII.

Based on real diaries, news stories, bomb records and some incredible images from the Getty archive, I recreated three weeks in 1943 through the ‘live’ tweets of four Londoners. Painting a picture of ordinary lives in extraordinary times.
